Honey Poached Persimmons

A lesser known fall fruit, the persimmon, is sometimes referred to as Fruit of the Gods, and now I know why.

I sliced and poached these persimmons in a spiced honey liquid. I added cardamom, turmeric, cinnamon and a pinch of cracked black pepper. It brought out the natural sweet flavourful aspect of this unique fruit.

Served with roasted hazelnuts on top of local Port Moody Rocky Point vanilla bean ice cream made a great end-of-summer almost-fall dessert.
